A.F.D is the correct sound field for Atmos content. Non Atmos content will be up mixed using Dolby Surround if A.F.D is selected. Obviously this goes without saying, but you need height speakers connected and Surround Back terminals configured on the OSD to Front Honestly, I want one setting that'll play what it should. ie if I'm listening to music I expect it to be stereo, if I have a movie on that's surround sound- I want it surround sound.
